Freeze-dried treat guide
Choose the protein—and the purpose.
Lean chicken works well for frequent small rewards; fish brings stronger aroma; hearts and liver are richer; complete freeze-dried foods belong in a different category from treats.
For training
Choose light pieces that break cleanly into small rewards. Check calories per piece rather than relying on bag size.
For picky eaters
Salmon, tuna, bonito and minnows provide strong aroma. Crumble a measured amount instead of continuously increasing the topper.
For texture enrichment
Whole minnows, thin bonito flakes and crunchy hearts feel very different. Supervise the first serving, especially with dental problems.
For complete meals
Only use a freeze-dried product as the whole diet when its label says it is complete and balanced for the cat’s life stage.
Store and serve it properly.
Keep the pouch sealed, dry and away from heat. Follow the manufacturer’s rehydration and hand-washing guidance; freeze-drying does not make raw animal ingredients sterile.
